As far as bullying is concerned, though, I have a pretty unpopular opinion. So long as there isn't physical fighting (assault), I think that the campaign to stop bullying is not worth it. Personally, I was made fun of all through school, and was the brunt of many a bully. However, I think that I wouldn't be the same person without it. I don't think bullies are good people, and their parents should have raised them better. That being said, I don't like how much the world seems to be campaigning against them. It's important for children to learn how to deal with hatred and intolerance, and move past it. Why isn't there a big push to stop adults from insulting each other? It doesn't stop when you graduate.\n\nChildren must be able to overcome bullying, and they won't learn to without it. As for the bullies, they're being told by the masses that they're horrible, terrible people. They aren't, most of the time there are problems at home or external causes that drive them to abuse other children.\n\nAgain, don't get me wrong - as soon as a child attempts to hurt another, measures should be taken to punish that child and aid the victim.\n\nIn short, I think that bullying is a necessary evil. It's important that children learn to deal with it. I don't support it, but I don't support this newfound anti-bullying paradigm we seem to have adopted, either.","controversiality":0,"created_utc":"1362384666","distinguished":null,"downs":0,"edited":false,"gilded":0,"id":"c8pelrr","link_id":"t3_19m5po","name":"t1_c8pelrr","parent_id":"t3_19m5po","removal_reason":null,"retrieved_on":1431476585,"score":-1,"score_hidden":false,"subreddit":"nfl","subreddit_id":"t5_2qmg3","ups":-1},{"archived":true,"author":"sircmpwn","author_flair_css_class":null,"author_flair_text":null,"body":"And how often have you had to come over and help them with problems? I recently chose to move out of my parent's house because we were not compatible with each other's beliefs, and once I was 18 we both wanted each other out.  I chose a lot of things:\n- To illegally learn to drive so I could take a test and get a license\n- To have sex in a one-night stand\nThese were somewhat questionable moral choices.  But I also chose to:\n- Take up a friend in my apartment for a few days when his parents were being troublesome\n- Donate to a number of causes (including doctors without borders)\n- Continue to go to work and be a participating member of society, even doing good enough work to advance my raise schedule quite a bit\n- Become a certified professional in two different fields\n\nSo I kind of just do what feels right, logically.  I still don't have a car, but I'm buying one tomorrow.  Without it, my life would be much more difficult, and breaking the law to learn how to drive without a permit (in a safe, controlled manner) seems acceptable.\nI had a one night stand with a nice girl who I got to know a bit beforehand.  I didn't pick her up from a bar or anything, and I used a condom.  She has birth control.\nI don't think I really need to explain the \"good\" moral choices.  I've been without religion for almost 10 years, so I'm pretty sure it has had little effect in shaping my moral compass.","controversiality":0,"created_utc":"1322161531","distinguished":null,"downs":0,"edited":false,"gilded":0,"id":"c32gm9u","link_id":"t3_mnfu2","name":"t1_c32gm9u","parent_id":"t1_c32eojc","retrieved_on":1428178975,"score":1,"score_hidden":false,"subreddit":"atheism","subreddit_id":"t5_2qh2p","ups":1}],"metadata":{"query_str":"'parents'","lang_id":"regex"},"error":null}
