I loathe AI for many reasons but it seems like a lot of funders are getting at least a little wise to it. I attended a seminar from a funder in my field and they said they were \"taking steps\" to identify who is using AI. They've also started \"grading\" applications on a tier basis, so orgs rich enough to hire grant writers are graded harder than those who are under a certain budget. I think it's a brilliant idea, and one I hope to see more of, and that's coming from someone who is going to be graded harder this year. \n\nAlso, I luckily am allergic to people telling me how to write grants, and I am broke (I charge low so that smaller orgs in my field can afford to hire me) so I couldn't afford a stupid class even if I didn't break out in hives every time someone mentioned something like that. I've written grants on and off for a few years and I love it and I'm successful at it. I make a point to read at least one grant book every 6 months, and I talk with my grant gurus often, but anyone who says grant writing is a side hustle, let alone one you can get rich off of, is off their rocker (I was writing them as a volunteer on and off. Only started charging this year). Google the median grant writer's income and it's really not the 6 figure income some people think it is. If you're amazing and doing big federal projects, sure, but those are few and far between.","body_html":"<div class=\"md\"><p>I know someone who used AI to write grants and then spammed them to every semi-relevant funder in their state. 98 applications sent out, 98 refusals or ghostings.
