so torn about this, yes he was beaten brutally to death, but isn\u2019t it common for people in DV situations to just \u201csnap\u201d (meaning it wouldve been messy and unplanned in the way it seemed). If it was all just some intricate plan to kill him and get the kids, why choose to do it in such a vicious and vile manner? If the reason for that is her being \u201cmentally ill\u201d, then okay. \n\nEveryone is talking about the recordings also, I don\u2019t know if I hear \u201cphysical abuse\u201d in the recordings, but it does seem like there was a bit of a pattern of him holding the right to the kids over her head. I see some people saying, the recordings weren\u2019t brought up in the first trial because they weren\u2019t real\u2026literally impossible, he had already been killed. Some people are saying things like \u201cthat\u2019s the worst they could find on the tapes\u201d\u2026it\u2019s not common that the public gets all of the evidence, so I would imagine there probably are many more recordings that haven\u2019t been heard for whatever reason. People are saying she manipulated him into those conversations for the sake of her recording, but I don\u2019t think the recordings gave \u201che was roped into this argument\u201d, it just sounded like they have a habit of arguing that way especially in regards to the kids, but I did hear Molly mostly trying to neutralize the argument and keep the kids out of it, but he sounded so angry that he wasn\u2019t interested in hearing her say or do anything that went against what he was saying in the moment. She may have been hamming it up for the recordings, but he made it pretty clear that he was in control of the situation in their household, he didn\u2019t cower to her, he sounded annoyed and frustrated, but if he\u2019s working often and she\u2019s with the kids more often, as was probably the case when it just a job for her, then that makes sense. He did sound all over the place though, like misplaced anger, and like he struggled to leave his children out of the issues amongst him and his wife, which, if you had parents that argued a lot growing up, you know what this looks like.\n\nI also think it\u2019s kinda odd that he started this romantic relationship with his au pair, I was a nanny for many years and that\u2019s always a very fine line. By default, they had already established a relationship of him being in the position of power over her with him being a single father and her being the children\u2019s caretaker, employed by him. I also see people saying she took advantage of him while grieving his first wife, but he was a very grown adult with his own children to consider, he didn\u2019t hire her as wife #2, so I don\u2019t believe he was conned into marrying her. Sure, you may not have control over who you fall in love with, but morally, deciding to change the dynamic of their relationship is a big choice. Possibly a poor decision, made with clouded judgement due to his grief, as she was a new, younger woman caring for his children. \n\nNow, to the kids calling her \u201cMom\u201d and people feeling a way about that, as a former nanny, it\u2019s extremely common for caretakers to develop very strong bonds with the children, not in the way of replacing a parent, but when you pair that with him marrying her, I\u2019d assume that would be very normal. They were very young children, it would make sense that Jason never wanted his babies to feel like they were lacking a motherly figure in their lives. Marriage to a single father of kids makes you a \u201cstep parent\u201d, they weren\u2019t gonna go around calling her \u201cstep mom\u201d especially with them being so young, I\u2019m sure the relationship they already formed with her as an au pair, made it a very easy adjustment for them, and if Jason loved her enough to marry her, and keep her in such close proximity to his kids, he didn\u2019t have a problem with them referring to her as that, he just kept boundaries in place by them not being legally adopted by her, and making sure she knew it. Also, to those saying he didn\u2019t trust her because he wouldn\u2019t let her adopt them, if you have children, in the presence of someone you don\u2019t trust, you wouldn\u2019t allow them to play a caretaker in any way, shape or form, whether it be an au pair, step mother, sharing a household, or being alone with them at all, especially at such a young impressionable age. He knew his kids loved her, I\u2019m sure it wasn\u2019t without reason. Making the adoption seem more like a \u201ctool\u201d. \n\nI also am wondering about the children\u2019s testimony and viewpoint at that age, kids that young will absolutely have varying views on what actually happened in that household. I know I definitely don\u2019t remember things from that age exactly the way they may have happened. Considering the kids were caught in the middle of such a messy situation, I\u2019m sure they grew up their entire lives hearing opposing views on both Molly and their father, but their dad is their dad, who is no longer with them, and all they know is Molly took him away from them. Developing brains can shape memories into fitting the narrative that they choose to believe. Molly could\u2019ve told the kids stories of what happened that they never witnessed, but the little recordings we can hear do prove that it wasn\u2019t always happy fun times in their house, and that the children were clearly affected by it. There is really no telling how the children were influenced at that age, but the hurt they\u2019ve endured by losing both parents could easily sway them into advocating for one side over the other regardless of what they remember vs what actually happened. \n\nAs for Tom, I don\u2019t really feel as though him being former FBI changes much about the outcome, whatever happened in the bedroom, if he was present, many parents would do anything to protect their children, fbi or not. I\u2019m sure his past definitely helped when deciding how they would handle the situation, but still, many fathers would help their daughter however possible. \n\nMolly clearly had issues, but I don\u2019t believe Jason was blameless, still a victim of murder, but he was also the only person to bring Molly into all of their lives in the manner that she was. Both families Im sure would say anything to protect their children, so it\u2019s hard to gauge based on their statements, both parties are unreliable. \n\nDo I feel like the whole fight happened exactly the way Molly and Tom said? No, there are inconsistencies, which could be a reason why they didn\u2019t receive the amount of time that the public feels they deserve for the crime. That\u2019s our justice system, serving no real justice when any death is involved, but it doesn\u2019t always go the way we want or feel it should, for whatever reason, race, severity of the crime, doubt about the final verdict, literally anything else, or no reason at all.\n\nI know this was a crap ton I just wrote, but it is what it is, I took an interest in this case. No one will ever really know what happened and the motives behind it, but it is truly a heartbreaking story in regard to the children and families
