Honestly, I felt like it was just a bunch of consultants pushing their \u201cnew\u201d book or solution to help me \u201craise more money.\u201d \n\nToday, not much has changed. It feels like any fundraising/grant writing \u201cexpert\u201d is just trying to sell me a course. Not only that- but I find most of them today are targeting stay at home moms and people who want to quit their 9-5!\n\nI take offence to people who build their business model selling people (especially SAHM) a promise that is grossly oversimplified by telling them they can make six figures using Ai to write grants and charging them $500 a MONTH to join a \u201ccommunity\u201d!? I get the same vibes as those girls from high school trying to recruit me to their down line of a pyrimid scheme. \n\nNo thanks #bossbabe. \n\nAnyways, I like where I work. I like the people I work with. I like my job. I just wish, when I searched for something online, I could find valuable content that wasn\u2019t just trying to sell me snake oil. It\u2019s the biggest thing I find wrong with this sector. With the proliferation of Ai and global crisis, I feel things are just going to get worse in the nonprofit development education space. I hear on here that they are in charge of everything and it includes grant proposals and writing and fundraising and a plethora of other things. That's not what I want here. \n\nThe grants that we are looking for is less than $5000 (mostly less than $1000) as direct funds and in-kind donations run higher. So, it's basically a lot of small grants. Which I'm currently searching and fiiling  out. But I have no experience in this and I feel that I'm either selling our charity short or not giving enough information (Nonprofit verbiage is still very new to me). \n\nI saw a video that said that they have people that get their own salary, shit, I'd like a salary too, lol, but that ain't happening anytime soon! is going to be a convoluted question. I\u2019m a freelance copywriter and marketing strategist. Three years ago, a psychologist and his business-minded spouse were opening a nonprofit mental health center. They hired me to write the website. It went so well that they have continued to use me for every bit of writing that the organization requires. Since they\u2019ve realized that I\u2019m intelligent and good at problem-solving, they often ask for my help on non-marketing related issues, such as helping to develop a program.\n\nThey honestly haven\u2019t acted much like a nonprofit for these first three years. They have spent the time establishing themselves as a mental health center, hiring more therapists, nailing down their processes, training their therapists, getting into a ton of insurance panels, and opening offices in other locations. They\u2019ve acted more like a very affordable private practice that takes most insurances.\n\nNow that they feel established, they actually want to focus on developing specific programs and getting funding. Their whole thing is making high quality mental health care accessible, which they have set themselves up to do quite well. At the moment, some of their psychologists can practice in 36 states. They have dreams of eventually reaching all 50 states.  \n\nThe psychologist is amazing at handling everything related to the mental health field. His MBA spouse is amazing at handling the insurance companies, recruiting and managing therapists, dealing with the legalities of licensing, and all sorts of other business-y things. But I feel like they don\u2019t actually know much about developing programs and getting grants and donors.\n\nThey were gifted a year-long membership to Donor Finder, and they just asked for my help to figure out how best to use it and start getting donations. As a writer, I am struggling a bit due to the economy and AI, so I\u2019m looking for full time positions at the moment.\n\nIt occurred to me that if I could become what they need, they might be able to hire me full-time. It would be amazing because we have a great working relationship and we trust each other. I also know that they would let me make my own hours, and would take care of me as an employee.\n\nMy question is: what should I train myself on for them? Grant writing? Fundraising? I\u2019m a freelance copywriter and marketing strategist. Three years ago, a psychologist and his business-minded spouse were opening a nonprofit mental health center. They hired me to write the website. It went so well that they have continued to use me for every bit of writing that the organization requires. Since they\u2019ve realized that I\u2019m intelligent and good at problem-solving, they often ask for my help on non-marketing related issues, such as helping to develop a program.</p>\n\n<p>They honestly haven\u2019t acted much like a nonprofit for these first three years. They have spent the time establishing themselves as a mental health center, hiring more therapists, nailing down their processes, training their therapists, getting into a ton of insurance panels, and opening offices in other locations. They\u2019ve acted more like a very affordable private practice that takes most insurances.</p>\n\n<p>Now that they feel established, they actually want to focus on developing specific programs and getting funding. Their whole thing is making high quality mental health care accessible, which they have set themselves up to do quite well. At the moment, some of their psychologists can practice in 36 states. They have dreams of eventually reaching all 50 states.  </p>\n\n<p>The psychologist is amazing at handling everything related to the mental health field. His MBA spouse is amazing at handling the insurance companies, recruiting and managing therapists, dealing with the legalities of licensing, and all sorts of other business-y things. But I feel like they don\u2019t actually know much about developing programs and getting grants and donors.</p>\n\n<p>They were gifted a year-long membership to Donor Finder, and they just asked for my help to figure out how best to use it and start getting donations. As a writer, I am struggling a bit due to the economy and AI, so I\u2019m looking for full time positions at the moment.</p>\n\n<p>It occurred to me that if I could become what they need, they might be able to hire me full-time. It would be amazing because we have a great working relationship and we trust each other. I also know that they would let me make my own hours, and would take care of me as an employee.</p>\n\n<p>My question is: what should I train myself on for them? Grant writing? Fundraising? I know a lot about marketing, but I have never marketed to get donations. What kind of position could I tell them that I could fill for them?
